THE tenacity of the people of Singleton never ceases to amaze.
The decision by the people of Broke and Bulga to form their own coal seam gas consultative committee isn’t the first time the people of Singleton have taken charge of an unsatisfactory situation.
Not so long ago, after years of refusing a health study for the people of Singleton, Dr Tuan Au said he would conduct his own respiratory study.
That study is gathering valuable information and since then, the state government has got on board and is supporting the health study initiative.
The people of Broke and Bulga have been extremely vocal in their concerns about coal seam gas and all they want is a platform to discuss those concerns.
All they want is assurances that the underground acquifers are protected and that the process is safe.
Surely that is worthy of a conversation.
Hopefully those behind these gas developments will see their way clear to come to the table to talk.
