SINGLETON Classic Motor Cycle Club took to the road at the weekend for the club’s 15th Annual Rally. Entries came from around New South Wales as well as Singleton and totalled 103.
The event was based at the Singleton Show Ground, and two rides, one long and one short, left the Show Ground at 9.30 and 10.00 respectively on Saturday morning.
The short ride via Lemington had good weather, whereas the long ride via Elderslie and Branxton encountered “scotch mist” most of the way.
A morning tea stop was held at the rest area at Pokolbin overlooking the surrounding vineyards, before travelling over Mount View to Wollombi and on to Broke Village Hall for lunch catered by the Broke Rural Fire Service.
Here both rides combined and judging of the bikes took place.
The winners of the various categories were: Pre 1930 Joanne Monk 1928 Rudge; 1930 – 1939 Bruce Cavanagh 1938 Matchless 2X; 1940-1949 Garry Lowe 1949 Norton International; 1950-1959 Rodney Baker 1951 Matchless G8; 1960-1969 Don Parker 1967 BSA B40; 1970-1980 Clyde Ikin 1972 Suzuki GT750; Sidecar 1980 & Under Brian Crebert 1934 AJS Model 2; Best in Club Joint Winners 1980 & Under Richard Helm 1963 BSA A10 RGS and Mick Dunn 1950 Jawa 250.
