Festival folk on road to Broke

10 Nov, 2009 12:12 PM
THIS year’s Folk in Broke is being described as multi coloured, multi flavoured and chock-a-block full of things to get involved in.

Event artistic director Maureen O’Brien is responsible for bringing the fantastic line up of artists to the village.

For the first time the event is being held at Nightingale Wines and Ms O’Brien said the venue is perfect and so far the response is on track for being the biggest and best festival yet.

Headlining the festival this year is Australia’s queen of the blues Fiona Boyes. Her soulful and sassy sound will resonate across the Nightingale barrel room on Saturday night from 8.30pm and again on Sunday at 1pm.

“The hands on area has some great opportunities for everyone to get involved with a variety of things and some new features such as the Planetary Caretakers session,” Ms O’Brien explained.

“With four stages showcasing different acts and activities throughout the weekend, this event is very exciting.”

The event kicks off tonight from 8pm with a cabaret show featuring sensational comedienne Denise Gold, among others.

Saturday and Sunday will see a number of artists such as Ami Williamson, Brian Cain, The Rose’s, the Wheeze and Suck band, FIG and Mothers of Intention take to the stage.

On Sunday morning some events will be held in the local church including a Women in the House concert featuring That’s That, Tracy Dundon, Fiona Magee, BlackCrow Walking and many more.

Markets will be set up among the vineyards and the festival café will provide all day snacks and meals.

Camping is available to three-day ticket holders.
