THE colder months are approaching and local fire fighters are taking the opportunity to make the Singleton community aware of home fire safety.
As part of fire prevention week, the Singleton New South Wales fire brigade is opening its doors tomorrow to the community to assist them in understanding how to prepare for the up coming season which is the most dangerous for house fires.
Our local fire fighters will be performing a hands on demonstration at 12.30pm that will show the community what the team does in the situation when they have to access a building through a roller door.
“It will be an exciting day and there will be a free sausage sizzle and show bags for the kids, but most importantly it is about fire prevention,” station manager Terry Partridge said.
“The day is also an opportunity for anyone interested in becoming a retained fire fighter or permanent one, to have a chat to us.
“The day will also give kids the chance to meet their local fire fighters, see the fire engines and equipment, and have a look around the station.”
Singleton fire brigade is always eager to raise awareness in the community and attends schools and preschools to conduct fire safety and awareness programs.
If anyone would like to have the brigade at their facility, a request needs to be given in writing.
For more information head to Pitt Street tomorrow between 10am and 2pm to increase the household awareness of being fire safe this winter.
