TWO more candidates have put their hand up for the 2010 Federal Election bringing the candidates to five for the Hunter seat.

Wayne Riley from the Christian Democratic Party (Fred Nile Group) and Jennifer Leayr from the One Nation party have joined Labor’s Joel Fitzgibbon, Greens candidate Chris Parker and The Nationals’ Michael Johnsen.

Candidates were officially declared on Friday with the ballot paper positions also decided.

Appearing from one to five on the ballot paper are 1- Chris Parker, 2 – Jennifer Leayr, 3 – Joel Fitzgibbon, 4 – Wayne Riley, and 5 – Michael Johnsen.

Long term Bulga resident and father of six Wayne Riley said he is dedicated to the Hunter Region and keen to be actively involved in caring for families, communities, lifestyle and the environment in the Hunter.

The 54-year-old has lived in the Singleton district for 26 years, has business activities in Scone and Church connections in Maitland.

His wife, Susan has lived in the Singleton district for 45 years with her father, Brian Walker, now running the local farmers market.

Mr Riley has worked in mining for 36 years, but has also been involved in High School teaching, youth work, and land development.

Mr Riley said as a Christian husband and father he has a good understanding of all the facets of raising a family and the costs of living.

He said he will stand for families on issues with education, fuel, energy costs, local and international aid and getting a fairer share of the resources boom.

Mr Riley said he will promote the family by seeking support for parents, single parents and parental leave.

“I am against any policy that tends to force any parent back into the workforce,” he said.

Nineteen-year-old Singleton university student Jennifer Leayr has decided to run for the Hunter seat as a candidate for the One Nation party.

Miss Leayr also works part time at a Singleton business.
