SINGLETON Council has given the green light for a house at Broke to become tourist accommodation.
The proposal to change the two-bedroom house in Cochrane Street to tourist accommodation was passed at Singleton Council’s ordinary meeting on Monday night.
Council said the change of use complied with the aims and objectives of the Singleton Local Environment Plan (SLEP), the 1 (d) rural small holding zone and the requirements of the Singleton Development Control Plan 2009 (SDCP 2009).
The accommodation is subject to nine conditions of consent.
According to Singleton Council, the proposed change of use will not require any physical works to the dwelling or the site with the building to be used for short-term accommodation.
One objection was made in relation to the planned tourist accommodation with a nearby resident believing the house was already used as a tourist facility and also citing further development of the site, loss of amenity, noise, rubbish and disruptive neighbours as reasons for objection.
Council believed the change in use would not have an impact on adjoining and adjacent properties.
