EVER wanted to find something out in Singleton, but didn’t know where to look?

Here is an opportunity to solve the problem with www.singleton.nsw.au.

All of Singleton’s other information places will have a link on this site such as Singleton Council, Singleton Chamber, the Visitor Information Centre and sporting bodies such as Singleton Netball Association who already have their own website.

For those organisations that do not have their own site, this new website will give them a home and an opportunity to have their news and contact details displayed in one, easy to find spot.

The purpose is to provide a one-stop-shop for information that is relevant to locals and visitors. In time, we hope the site will become a comprehensive source of news, contacts, links, community group information and a home for those without a site.

The website will be the start of an organised process wherein the content and presentation of the site will evolve as the different groups get on board.

Community Georgraphic Domain Names (CGDN’s) provides the world’s first intuitive, standardised naming system to enable better access to local community, tourism and business information to help facilitate social, cultural and economically sustainable benefits.

The .au Community Domains organisation (.aucd) provides assistance and template based software to enable simple set up of the site.

All that needs to happen now is for community groups and sporting bodies to get involved.

The project needs to be led by a steering committee to enable it to happen.

Workshops about the concept will be held at the Pegasus Training Centre in Queen Street on July 28 from 1.30pm to 3pm and again from 6pm to 7.30pm. Anyone wishing to attend should call 0400460412.

Community groups have until the end of the year to take advantage of the free software.

The project is endorsed by the Singleton Chamber of Commerce and Industry but needs the support of all community and sporting groups to make the most out of this opportunity.
