MAKE your way to Lion’s Club Bookfair and you may just find it hard to get away.
Rows and rows of books, most in pristine condition, are perfectly organised so that diehard book lovers and even the uninitiated can find exactly what they are looking for.
And what they are sure to find is a bargain.
“Everything is going for a song,” said Lions Club volunteer Jack Fleming.
“There are some wonderful bargains here.”
Bookfair coordinator Annette Bartholemew said their customers come from far and wide, many travelling to scoop up the bargains they know are on offer in Singleton each year.
She said the books were all in categories to make it easier for people and the fiction were all organised alphabetically.
“Biographies and fiction are usually the most popular, but there are also toys, games and the kids books which are really popular as well.
“Hopefully there will be no books left by the end of Saturday, our aim is to see every book go out the door.”
The books range in price from 50cents to $2 so even a bagful will not break the bank.
Some of the categories include sport and fitness, animals and pets, cooking and gardening, craft, textbooks and many others.
As well as a large selection of hardcover and paperback books there are also toys, magazines, encyclopaedias, records, puzzles, games, CD’s, videos and DVDs.
Last year the Lion’s Club made an impressive $9,600 and this year they are hoping to top that effort and bring the fundraising past the $10,000 mark.
The Lion’s Club Bookfair is on this Friday and Saturday from 9am –5pm at the Singleton Showground, Bathurst Street entrance.
