Mobile Centrelink goes to Broke

13 May, 2011 11:10 AM
AN AUSTRALIAN government mobile office is coming to Broke to offer easier access to a wide range of government payments and services for rural communities.

The mobile office is staffed by Centrelink rural services officers, social workers, and Medicare Australia staff to provide information, assistance and support to seniors, students, families, farmers and farm-dependent small business.

Mobile Office Team Leader Andrew Gregory said the mobile office is custom built to provide flexibility and space to assist a broader range of customers at different stages of their lives.

The vehicle has a small waiting area, two separate interview rooms, three service desks, wireless technology that allows the laptops onboard to access the Centrelink customer mainframe, and self-service facilities.

The vehicle has a ramp at the rear to make it wheelchair accessible.

The mobile office will be at Stewart McTaggart Park on Thursday, May 26, from 9am to 2pm.
