Now police search for dead woman's missing husband

08 Feb, 2012 01:13 PM
Police are searching for the missing husband of a woman found dead yesterday, and say they "hold concerns" for him.

Tammy Sindermann, 43, was found dead by her daughter yesterday after she walked past a shed on her great-grandmother's property and saw her mother's body on the floor.

Police are now searching bushland around Wyee near Lake Macquarie for Ms Sindermann's husband, Darren Fishburn, 42.

Ms Sindermann's body was found at Wyndham Street at 9.30am yesterday by a family member.

The 43-year-old was found lying on the ground in a shed at the back of the house.

Police from the Hunter Valley Local Area Command and NSW Ambulance Paramedics attended the scene.

Police would only confirm they were treating the death as suspicious, with Hunter Valley crime manager, Detective Inspector Trent King, saying they would await reports from forensic pathologists before confirming if they were investigating a murder.

A crime scene was established and examined by specialist forensic officers.

Strike Force Wintervale has been formed by local police with the assistance of the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad to investigate the woman’s death.

Police are awaiting the results of a post mortem, however, they are treating the woman’s death as suspicious.

Investigators also hold concerns for the welfare of the woman’s husband who has not been seen since the discovery.

The search for Fishburn involves officers from Lake Macquarie and Hunter Valley Local Area Commands with the assistance of the Public Order and Riot Squad and the Police Airwing.

Mr Fishburn is described as Caucasian, with a solid build, short brown hair, goatee beard and piercings in both ears.

It is believed he may be using a red 1989 model Nissan Patrol with NSW registration YAE-923.

Anyone with information about the woman’s death or the whereabouts of Mr Fishburn is asked to contact Hunter Valley Detectives or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
