SINGLETON High’s Rock Eisteddfod team has earned a spot in the New South Wales grand final after a stunning performance in Sydney last week.
The cast of 80 not only won the select grand final spot but they also took out four of the event’s major trophies.
With a perfect 10 out of 10, the troupe won the trophy for best concert.
They were also awarded trophies for the best costume and characters, best drama and best visual enhancements.
Competing against schools from across New South Wales, Singleton High is now among the final eight schools to contest the grand final much to the excitement of those involved.
“It is extremely exciting, it is the first time in a long time that Singleton High has competed and the win has certainly created a real buzz among the students,” said teacher Bernice Cook.
As for the students performance on the night, she could not have expected any more.
“They were brilliant, Singleton High was the first school on stage and the students just exploded on the stage, they couldn’t have performed any better,” Ms Cook said.
The students are now preparing for grand final night at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on September 4 and 5.
The school is competing in the RAW section which doesn’t require sets and can only utilise hand held props and costumes.
The school is now busily organising a supporters bus for the night.
“Anyone in the community is welcome to come along and support us,” Ms Cook said.
Tickets will be available from the school office early next week.
