WHEN Helen Broadfoot walks around Singleton she is easily recognised and not just for the fact that she is a well known Singleton personality.
Helen has multi-coloured her hair in preparation for the World’s Greatest Shave.
On March 26, she will shave her locks in support of those fighting Leukaemia like little Tia Morgan, Helen’s inspiration.
“It is something that I have always wanted to do and this year I have more of a desire than ever,” she told The Singleton Argus.
Living close by to Tia and the Morgan family, Helen was inspired to make a difference.
“I guess you just have to realise that every little bit counts and if we get together enough we might be able to find a cure or put a stop to this awful disease,” she said.
“How I look doesn’t matter and if there is some chance that this is going to make a difference than fantastic.
“This is about helping others and getting as much people aware of the need for funds to research the dreadful disease.”
With lots of support from the local community, Helen is hoping to see many of the local faces that she knows at her head shave next Friday.
Feeling excited about the shave, Helen said the colour was a way of promoting her fundraiser.
“I was walking down the street and had someone yell out ‘Go Girl’, so I am wrapped that I have the community’s support,” she said.
If anyone wants to support Helen and the Leukaemia Foundation, donations can be made at Fuji Image Plus, Chrisali’s Restaurant at the Caledonian Hotel and on the night of the shave.
The head shave is being held at the Caledonian Hotel next Friday at 8pm.
