THE Sutty’s Electrical Monthly Mug was contested last Saturday at the Singleton Golf Club and the winner kept everyone guessing to the end.
A big thank you goes out to Martin and Angela Sutcliffe and all their staff for their sponsorship of this event.
It was Tony Charlesworth playing in the final group of the day that managed to hole a snaking twenty metre putt to take the mug and shatter the hopes of retired Club Captain Col Bagnall. Col had been sitting in the clubhouse with a score of 61 prior to Tony returning a 60.
This was easily Tony’s finest round and may be a precursor of things to come.
Col’s 61 saw him awarded the A grade trophy for the day well ahead of Club Manager Daniel Storey with 64.
B grade’s Nathan Harrod produced a score of 65 to dash the hopes of sponsor Marty Sutcliffe. Nathan is a new member who has shown his skills early and will be one of the favoured contenders in any upcoming events. Martin’s second place score was 66.
Trevor Pearce fired a fine 65 on his way to winning C grade. Trevor has been seen regularly on the course with his grand daughter who has obviously been giving him some good tips! In runner’s up spot was the super consistent Mitchell Harrod with 67.
While Tony Charlesworth was the winner of the weekly secret 9 event, some of the place getters came from left field. They were Wayne Chandler, Dave Garland and Col Bagnall.
The qualifying round for the annual 4BBB knockout is being contested this Saturday. The four ball event has become a much sort after prize over the years and members are asked to support the day.
On Sunday, the Golf Club in hosting a fund raising day with a 4 person Ambrose being played. Cost for the day is $25 a head and includes green fees, trophies, ball comp and a BBQ lunch. The entry sheets for both these tournaments are posted on the notice board now.
Junior clinics are operating again on Monday and Tuesday afternoons at 4:30pm. If you are a junior and would like to learn how to play golf give Les a ring in the Pro Shop on 65724875 for more details.
