BRODY Nowlan is a superstar in the making.
Next year the local motorcycle rider will live out a dream when he steps onto the world stage of racing.
The 15-year-old speedster has been selected as a Red Bull Rookie, a junior international series that follows the World MotoGP series and that features international riders from all over the world.
The local teenager has snagged himself a spot on the coveted junior event after flying to Italy last week on an all expense paid trip.
With Dad Brian in tow, Brody travelled to Adria just outside Venice, for selection with his speed, determined focus and raw talent impressing selectors to gain him a spot in next year’s Red Bull Rookies Cup.
Billed as one to watch, Brody was chosen from a field of 39 riders from 23 nations and was one of only seven international riders from the group selected to compete in the rookie series.
Only 27 riders will make up the series with 20 of those riders retained from this year’s series, Brody one of the newest additions.
His selection as a Red Bull Rookie is a dream come true for the 15-year-old who one-day aspires to compete in the World MotoGP competition.
When asked what it meant to him, he told The Singleton Argus he couldn’t describe it in words.
“I can’t explain (how I feel),” Brody said.
“This is what I’ve been racing for for the past seven-years,” he said.
The chance of a lifetime, Brody sacrificed his lead in the Australian MRRDA junior series and an Australian national title due to conflicting dates with his trip to Italy.
But the young superstar holds no regrets about the decision describing it as ‘a once in a lifetime experience’ and one that pushed him to a new level of riding.
Given a GP 125 bike to ride, Brody stepped up from his usual Honda CBR 150, and overcame wet conditions to finish his one and only Italian lap without a scratch. This was after riders were told not to crash bikes.
“I was the first to go out, new tyres and cold track…..conditions were slippery,” he said.
“Seven people fell off at the first corner, this was after they told us they didn’t want us to crash the bikes so that was even more pressure,” he said.
Brody’s itinerary for the Red Bull Rookies Cup will include races in Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, Czech Republic and Germany and he expects the competition to be extremely tough.
“Some of these riders have been racing 125s since they were 11 and 12-years old,” he said.
“And some of them are AMA super sport rider champions in their countries,” he said.
As a Red Bull Rookie, the bikes and equipment Brody will be given to use is valued at roughly $260,000 however Brody won’t see any of that money.
He has been told the flights to and from events and other expenses will cost about $60,000 and is hoping to gain sponsorship to help him achieve his dream. Anyone who would like to help Brody on his way can contact the Nowlan’s on 6571 5783.

This star is on the rise and he already counts Moto GP and Australian superstar Chris Vermeulen as a good friend. Brody will spend this weekend at Phillip Island as part of Vermeulen’s crew.
