We have many senior ex tennis players in our group and they are holding up with mallet quite admirably.

Just when we were identifying with black and blue red and yellow a set of soft colours are rolled out pink and white, green and brown and it was then a Ladies 4. Dot Walker, Audrey Shade, Bev Nugent and Elva Gardner and a Gentlemen’s 4 Bob Moore, Leon Shade, Ivan Moxey and Barry Smith were put into match play.

Dot and Audrey took ladies honours. Bob and Leon the Gentlemen, a play off between them resulted in Gentlemen a win by one hoop.

Great to see the Shades in good form after a break, as too Elva Gardiner who executed great shots only to have them used by the opponents, however that is the name of the game.

The Mallet does not like to single out one player over another but it has to be said a superb ricochet strike and hoop made by Colleen Moxey was exceptional even to the point that president Craig was blown away by the execution of it. Craig's own words “that was a quantum leap if ever I saw one and definitely no referee required!” Croquet players are reminded that there is no play on March 27 due to the Hunter Valley Junior Grass court championships. We wish them an enjoyable tournament “break a racquet” for Howe Park.
