SOME of New South Wales best junior showjumpers will be in action at the Singleton Showground this weekend.
Riders who have competed on International, National and State levels will converge for Singleton Pony Club’s annual Showjumping Championships.
Over 70 riders from across New South Wales including Sydney and Port Macquarie will travel to Singleton for the event.Riders aged from as young as five-years through to twenty five years will compete over five grades during the two-day event.
Singleton Pony Club president Barry Finney said entries for the Championships were slightly down on last year however the club had received a strong-response to this year’s event.
Rain has cast a cloud over the Championships with club officials set to make a decision at lunchtime today if it will go ahead.
If so, Mr Finney said the community was welcome to stop in to the Showground and check out the action.
He said spectators could expect a high calibre of riders on display and recommended watching the six bar event on Saturday, an event always highly popular with the crowd.
The Singleton Pony Club’s annual Showjumping Championships will begin at 9am tomorrow through until Sunday.
Action on Sunday starts at 8.30am with a mounted parade to follow events. On completion, a presentation will be held with champions given a rug while rosettes will be awarded to place getters.
