ST Catherine’s Catholic College’s year seven rugby league side has finished in the top 12 schools in the state in a recent seven a side competition.
On Thursday August 20, the team competed in the captains’ cup competition in Sydney, taking on the best school teams in the state.
The team played four games, and finished with a commendable record of two wins and two losses.
They managed to defeat sides from South Sydney and Western Suburbs during the day long carnival.
St Catherine’s qualified for the finals of the captains’ cup after winning the Hunter division in Newcastle in July.
Coach Matthew Edwards said finishing in the top 12 was a great achievement by the side, as the majority of schools they faced throughout the competition were much larger than St Catherine’s.
