IT has been a busy past couple of weeks for Singleton Pony Club. On Saturday and Sunday April 25 and 26, four riders from Singleton Pony Club competed against the fastest riders in the state and Queensland at the Pony Club State Sporting and Camp Drafting Championships hosted by Scone Pony Club.
Riders displayed impressive speed and accuracy while competing in several sporting events on Saturday. Stacey Wright, Kasey Heuston, Ellie Barnett and Josh Barnett from Singleton Pony Club competed against 349 others riders from across New South Wales and Queensland very successfully.
Josh Barnett competed against 48 riders in the 11 to 13 years age group placing second in the diamond flag, sixth in the running tee, seventh in the mug race, and sixth in the barrel race. Josh was also a member of the Zone 7 team of four highest point score.
Ellie Barnett competed against 96 riders in the 13 to 15 years age group placing fifth in the mug race, fifth in the flag race, and ninth in the bonfield bounce.
Stacey Wright competed against 89 riders in the 17 to 25 years age group, placing seventh in the flag race and fifth in the mug race.
On Sunday, Stacey Wright, Ellie Barnett and Josh Barnett also competed against riders from across the state in camp drafting, all riding very successfully.
A few weeks earlier on April 12 and 13, riders travelled to Quirindi to compete in the ODE on Saturday and the Quirindi Blanch Trophy Day.
One Day Event results were as follows: Kirstin Waller - third C grade overall, Courtney Waller – rode very successfully, Ellie Barnett - fifth in the first division D grade, Josh Barnett - fourth in the second division D grade.
Quirindi Blanch Trophy Day results were as follows: Josh Barnett- first rider class, third hack class, second pair of riders, first bareback rider, first rider, first flag, first bonfield bounce, first running tee, champion point score boy 11 to 13 years. Ellie Barnett - third rider, first bareback, second flag, first bonfield bounce, second running tee.
