Although she did cry when she found out her score.
“It was a very overwhelming moment,” Brianna said.
An ATAR is a rank that measures an individual student’s overall performance in relation to other students and is used by universities to select school leavers for courses.
“I am stoked, I was hoping for at least 91 so to get this result is great,” she told The Singleton Argus.
This means Brianna will now be able to pursue her dream of studying both Law and International Relations at either Canberra or Wollongong.
Unfortunately she has had a few sleepness nights in the lead up to the release of the results.
Brianna said it has been a very challenging year but thanks to the help of some very special teachers and her mother she has managed “to get over the line.”
“Miss Bate, Miss Prudence and Mr Merrick have gone above and beyond when it comes to helping me get through this year.”
“I have basically had no social life,” she said.
Brianna studied four units of English, Legal Studies, Modern History and Religion.
Singleton High’s deputy principal Ian Skilton said: “Although we continue to do well in our VET subjects, this year it was very pleasing to see students achieve a number of band six rankings in the more traditional core subject areas.”
Mr Skilton said band six ranking was achieved in Biology, Earth and Environmental Science, English extension (E4 which is equivalent to band six), Modern History, PDHPE, Design and Technology and Industrial Technology and Legal Studies.
St Catherine’s College, principal Brian Lacey said he is very pleased with the many band five and band six rankings achieved in Music, Design and Technology and English advanced.
“Our students have achieved excellent results over the broad range of subjects offered at the college,” he said.
“I would like to congratulate all the 2013 year 12 students, from both schools, on all their hard work.”
It is time for them to celebrate their success, he said.
St Catherine’s College Year 12 student Jordan Holz received a band six ranking in Design and Technology.
He was awarded 94 marks out of 100 for spending many hours designing and constructing a multi-functional standing frame.
“The frame was purpose built to allow a young girl, who suffers from a range of disabilities, to interact with others rather than just sitting in her wheel chair,” his mum, Cathy, explained.
“He worked really hard and deserves the result and has already received a university offer.”
