Centuries to Jackson Cox playing for Singleton Colts, Nathan Levy from JPC second grade, and Dave Newman from PCH third grade were highlights of Singleton cricket when games resumed over the weekend following the Christmas break.

First Grade played the first game in a round of Unlimited Overs Matches. This is a new concept for Singleton cricket and was very much a learning experience for team captains.
PCH won the toss at Cook Park 3 and decided to bat. This proved successful when they made 7/242 and decided to declare at 3.45pm after facing fifty overs. Danuel Bell remained 60 not out and Josh McNamara made 56 and Jake Mackaway 32 runs. Bowling honours for JPC went to Lachlan Charnock 2/16 (6 overs), Josh Rinkin 2/19 (9) and Pat Fitzgerald 2/27 (9). JPC then had to see out the rest of the day to avoid loss. They remained 2/102 after 36 overs and compulsory stumps, to play out a draw. Steve Dunston was 50 not out at stumps. Pat Fitzgerald also made 30 runs. Danuel Bell with 1/10 (7) and Daniel Oldknow 1/16 (6) were the PCH wicket takers.
Glendon won the toss at Howe Park and sent Creeks in to bat. Creeks batted for 60 overs and were 9/239 when they declared. Myles Cook top scored with 57, Steve Unicomb made 52, Hamid Arain 42 not out and Blake Cook 26 not out. Wayne Price took 3/25 (10) for Glendon, Greg Thrift bowled for twenty one overs for his 3/66. Glendon had made 1/27 in the fourth over but then lost five wickets with the score on 31 and another on 34. Glendon then shut up shop and batted out the overs for another 75 runs between Matt Harris 27 and Daniel Higgins 38 to achieve a draw with the score of 7/109 after 35 overs.
Next week Valley will meet JPC at Howe Park and Glendon will play PCH at Cook Park 3. Play will commence at 12 noon.
Second Grade games saw Glendon meet Creeks and PCH play JPC.
At Cook Park 2 JPC won the toss and batted. After their forty overs they had made 7/260. Nathan Levy scored 121, Gareth Ernst 63 and Mitchell Nott 26 runs. Corey Oldham took 4/26 (5) for PCH. One wicket each went to Glenn Winsor, Owen DeJong and Chris Ryan. PCH were only able to make 104 and were out in the twenty eighth over. Chris Ryan made 24, Brad Schultz 19 and Brad Darmody 13 were best for PCH. Kyle Bailey topped the JPC bowling with 3/28. Greg Danks also took 2/11 and Dan Bray, Gareth Ernst , Tim Gore and Shane Harman, one each.
The game at Cook Park 4 was played between Creeks and Glendon. Glendon won the toss and batted and had made 156 in the 35th over before they were all out. Max Willis top scored with 97 and Marcus Downes 17. Daniel Tracey bowled well for figures of 5/7. Anthony Vizl also took 2/25 and Jon Cornelius, Matt Chick and Clint Harman one wicket each. Creeks scored 4/160to take the win. Nathan Upward top scored with51, Jason Ling made 48 and Andrew Trent 32. Shaun Burley took 2/12 for Glendon. Ryan Thomas and Peter Burley took one wicket each.
Next week Valley meet JPC at Cook Park 4 and Glendon will play PCH at Cook Park 2.
It was very disappointing to see another forfeit in third grade when Glendon were unable to field a team against Valley Gold for the second time this year.
PCH won the toss and batted and made a big score of 5/308 after forty overs. Dave Newman made 124, Scott Matthews 64, Jason Matthews 34 not out and Brendan Budden 22 not out. Elliott Danks took 2/55 for Creeks and Walter Prowse 2/4. M Rateesh also took a wicket. Creeks were all out for 96 in the twenty first over. M Rateesh and Beau Linsell each made 17 runs. Mark Redmond took great figures of 7/31 (8) and Adrian Moss 3/29 for PCH.
Valley Brown lost the toss but were asked to bat by JPC at Cook Park 1. Valley were all out for 143 in the twenty eighth over. Tim Lane top scored with 44, Anthony Ventra made 22 against his old club and Josh and Brennie Whittington scored 19 and 18 respectively. Brad Kelly took 5/33 (5), Greg James 2/18 (5) Josh Bendeich 2/23 for JPC. When they batted JPC could only make 58 runs. Steve Kelly made 15 runs and Ethan Maher 11. Valley bowlers kept runs to a minimum with Brad Maher taking 3/7 (6), Gav Knight 2/3 (8), Josh Whittington 2/3 (5) and Erin Mosely 1/16.
Next weeks draw will see Valley Brown play PCH at Cook Park 1, Valley Gold v Creeks at Civic and Glendon and JPC at Cook Park 5.
At the time of writing this we have heard that Singleton John Bull Shield team have defeated Newcastle C & S at Newcastle in the semi- final of the John Bull Shield Competition. Singleton Colts are fielding in the game against Cessnock after putting on 260 in their fifty overs. Jackson Cox made 106. A full report will appear in next Tuesdays Singleton Argus.
