SINGLETON hospital’s new emergency department will be the main beneficiary of a $30,000 donation received last week from the supermarket chain Ritchies IGA and food manufacturer Goodman Fielder.
This donation is due in part to the work of the late movie star Paul Newman who became just as well known for this salad dressing range as his acting performances.
Goodman Fielder hold the Australian licence for the Paul Newman product range and they are also the local distributors of the range.
These products are sold throughout the world and it was the founder’s instructions that all profits from the sale of the goods had to go to charity.
Goodman Fielder contacted Ritchies IGA and it was decided that the local charity to receive this largesse from the Paul Newman product range would be the Singleton Hospital Auxiliary.
So $30,000 was very gratefully received by the auxiliary and staff at the hospital with Singleton Hospital, clinical nurse manager Ann Relf saying how pleased they were to receive such a large donation.
“We expect to use the money towards buying new equipment for the emergency department and this will be a tremendous benefit to the Singleton community, “she said.
The Singleton Hospital Auxiliary thanked the Singleton Ritchies IGA for their generous support.
