POLICE have called for information about allegations of pet dogs being stolen for illegal dog-fighting rings in the Hunter.
“There is a lot of rumour and hearsay about, but we really need some solid evidence about dog-fighting to take it any further,” Hunter crime coordinator Andrew Nichols said yesterday.
“Dogs are stolen from time to time, but our records don’t show a spike at the moment and we have no proof of dog-fighting, we need someone who has seen it to come forward.”
He said people with information could ring Singleton police station on 6578 7499 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
