Students love those lamingtons

THE soft spongy and delicious lamington was once again on the menu for Singleton High School’s latest Japanese visitors on Thursday.

Three teachers and 15 students from junior and senior high schools in Takahata took part in creating their own Australian cake with the help of Singleton High hospitality students.

The Australian favourite was fast becoming a hit amongst the high school’s guest even though the preparation was messy.

The cooking session was the first part of the Takahata group’s cultural trip to Australia which is a yearly tradition.

The group arrived in Australia yesterday morning and has a busy itinerary prepared for their next week, where they will see and experience what Australia and Singleton is all about.

Along with taking part in their host students’ classes at the high school they have planned excursions to the Hunter Valley Gardens and to Newcastle where they get to challenge each other in laser tag and bowling.

Before they return to Japan on Wednesday the students will site see through Sydney visiting Manly, Darling Harbour and the other landmarks. In the group are two exchange students who are enjoying a three month stay.
