To quash the rumours, I am not sick, the paper is not getting printed in India and we are not cutting back to one day a week.
Yes, the newspaper industry is undergoing major change and part of that change was the creation of a production hub, taking away this ability from sites like The Singleton Argus.
With that decision came the loss of a work colleague in Julie Walker. Jules and I became best friends when she arrived in Singleton in year 3.
I started at The Singleton Argus at the ripe old age of 18 back in June 1980. Jules came here in November of that year.
We have been through many experiences together over the years and, as much as I respect and care for my fellow work colleagues, it’s just not the same without Jules and the ability to have our own production department on site.
The Singleton Argus will remain a strong voice in this community, probably stronger, under new editorial leadership. I wish my colleagues and the masthead nothing but the very best for the future. Thanks everyone.
