In fact to the north and west of us the dry had turned into drought and many farmers were struggling to feed their livestock or plant crops.
In the worst cases farming families were even struggling to feed themselves yet alone pay their ever mounting household bills.
Our story in the paper today highlights what people can do when they see a problem and decide to do something about it.
Call it a random act of kindness if you like but the decision to deliverer hay, dog food and chocolates to drought stricken farmers on the Northern Tablelands took a fair bit of planning and plenty of hard work.
Well done to everyone involved we are sure the recipients of your kindness were somewhat overcome by your generosity.
