It can be viewed on Friday, April 25 from 12am to 3pm at the Family History Library which is located at 74 George Street, Singleton.
The society wants to show the community the research they have accumulated over many years and in turn hopes the community can add to the collection.
“It is envisaged that interest in family military history will grow over the next four years as the Nation focus’ on the commemoration of World War One and memorial dates of specific events during this time,” President Lyn MacBain, said.
“Anzac day is a time to learn about the service, courage and heroism of a generation of men and women who gave so much to make us the Nation we are today.”
Lyn is also asking members of the community to come forward to help with the process of documenting the history of the 975 soldiers from Singleton, including 72 from Branxton, that served in WW1 and and perhaps paid the ultimate price.
“They all deserve to be acknowledged and recounted for future generations,” she said.
“Many of us have photos in albums, cupboards and even boxes under beds of family members standing proudly in their uniforms and do not know much about them, except a name and in some cases not even that and that’s a challenge but not impossible in some cases. Perhaps that’s a lesson for us all to put a notation on the back our family photos."
Finding the answers to who are they, how old are they, what active service did they see, what did they do and in so many cases did they come back and where are they buried is a great way to acknowledge your family member, she said.
Apart from Anzac Day members of the Family History Society Singleton Inc are available on Wednesday 12am to 3pm and Saturday 1pm to 4pm to assist with enquires.
