Anzac Day service was moved inside the Civic Centre after 40mm of rain fell in town between the Dawn Service and the Anzac Day march.

Fortunately the heavy rain that hit the district later in the morning held off for the service.
As many of the diggers who fought at Gallipoli were from farming backgrounds they would have appreciated the fact that after 10 days of warm, dry autumn weather the rain had arrived in time to improve the season for those on the land.
