Macquarie Generation donated $4000 which enabled Singleton Family Support to purchase the child safe approved fence panels and these panels were then erected on site by volunteers from BHP Billiton’s Mt Arthur Coal.
Singleton Family Support, family worker Lisa Brock said the fencing in the group’s outdoor area badly needed replacing it was run down and unsafe.
“Because of our budget situation if we had had to purchase the fence panels and pay for them to be erected then we would have had to cut back on our services to local families,” she said.
“So it was absolutely fantastic when Macquarie Generation donated the funding for the new fence and a group of men from Mt Arthur Coal put the fence up for us.
“We can’t thank everyone enough for helping our group improve the facilities.”
Singleton Family Support is located near Singleton Hospital and offers a range of services to local families with children aged from 0-12years.
“Our services are free and include a playgroup each Thursday morning, parenting groups, play therapy helping parents with their children’s behaviour issues,” Ms Brock said.
“We also assist families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, families suffering from domestic violence in fact any family issue we try to be as user friendly and as helpful as we can.
“At our Thursday playgroup we have available family support workers that parents can have a chat to about their concerns in a safe confidential environment.”
