Of the many events held at Singleton Heights Public School for Education Week, the highlight was the address given by former student, Jacob Dyball, to the primary students at the morning assembly on Thursday.
Jacob spoke with great fondness about his time at Singleton Heights, recalling Mrs Delforce as his favourite class teacher.
The students listened intently as Jacob explained how he had worked through school with a profound hearing impairment, but was supported with the use of an FM transmitter which connected to his hearing aid.
While Jacob had overcome adversity to attain a number of tremendous achievements, the students were most impressed with his selection in the Australian deaf table tennis team, for which he had competed at a number of international events, including the Deaflympics.
Our local hero, Jacob Dyball, provided true inspiration for all who attended the primary assembly.
We are priveledged to have him as a former student of Singleton Heights.
Thank you, Jacob.
