Junior league shows support

SINGLETON Junior Rugby League raised more than $15,000 for three organisations, an amount that has astounded all involved.

The Beyond Blue Dinner held earlier this year supported Singleton Family Support, Beyond Blue and the Men of League Foundation.

The event was also opportunity to raise awareness about depression and the support that is available.

The club thanks major sponsor Xstrata Coal for their support of the evening as well as NAB Singleton and Westfund Health Insurance who through their sponsorship and the support of many other local businesses ensured such a successful financial event.

The club also thanks Men of League for their donation of items for the auctions. Men of League is an organisation that provides financial support to former rugby league players who may have experienced hardship.

Special guests on the evening were Craig Hamilton and Steve Simpson.

Club spokesperson Shane McDougall said the club was pleased to be able to share these proceeds with the organisations.

Recipient, Lisa Brock from Singleton Family Support said the club members should know that all the money donated would go towards local families and programs that help strengthen those relationships.

The presentation was made under extremely windy conditions on Saturday.
