In the works is a complete revamp of their playground that includes a sensory garden, day bed, camp ground, mud kitchen, paver pathway and art corner for the kids to interact with.
And the thumbs are up from the kids for the first upgrade of their playground, a new synthetic grass lawn play space and garden bed.
“We wanted to make the play area more exciting by giving the kids the chance to explore, but are doing it section by section because of the costs involved,” assistant director Maddie Ingold said.
“It’s taken all the fundraiser staples such as the pie drive, chocolate drive and major fundraiser the Mother’s Night In market night last year to complete the first part of the project and with community support we’re hoping to tackle more sections as soon as we can.
“It’s a bit of a blank canvas at the moment but the plans are there and it will look great when it is complete.”
The idea to revamp the play area came after their large shade net erected late last year unfortunately stopped sunlight getting through to the grass which died off.
The fundraising committee got behind the new project and the plans were drawn up with Bay and Beyond Medowie Landscaping.
The next phase is to create a paver pathway that also acts as a fundraiser, families can buy a paver to go in the playground with their children’s names on it so that family or business can leave their mark at the preschool.
Left over pavers will be given to the children so they can add their own creative contributions.
The pavers are all recycled tiles gifted by local businesses or families.
“It has been a joint effort by everyone at the school with parents contributing recycled materials, manpower and time to cut costs and make the playground a reality,” Ms Ingold said.
The playground is all about engaging the kids and is a bit different to normal play areas.
“The sensory garden will have different plants, some with strong smells, some that the children can touch and wind chimes to engage the senses,” Ms Ingold said.
“A mud kitchen is one of the other ideas put forward that could use old pots and pans, so kids can use their imagination to make up masterpieces, a mock campfire area is another creative space for the playground.
“We’re adding to the worm farm and are hoping to be able to use the produce from our vegetable garden in the kitchen and the kids will be involved along the way.”
In the middle will be a raised deck for a day bed with comfy cushions and another garden bed,
There will be an art and craft area for the kids to make their own creations.

Their next fundraiser is a Mother’s Night In October.
