A large field of golfers contested the event and tested their skills against each other.
The greens continue to firm up and their quicker pace is still catching many players out.
One of the more favoured teams on the day snuck a victory in the tightest of finishes.
Michael Storey and Peter Vitnell were declared the 2014 Champions after returning a score of 3 under par 66.
The same score was shot by Brad Kelly and Michael Kirkpatrick.
The Championship victory went to the Storey and Vitnell team by way of a count back.
Michael Storey hit some prodigious drives during the round and had pundits amazed by how far he can muscle a golf ball.
The handicap section was also a very close affair. Mitchell Pease and Stumpy Bonarius managed to sneak in on a count back.
Their score of 61.75 nett beat home the more experienced pairing of Aaron Goadsby and Rick Janssen.
While Rick’s game matures like a classic Bordeaux, Aaron’s game seems a long way short of its triple A rating from a few years back.
Inching into third place was Tamworth visitor Chris Skilton and current Monthly Mug holder Martin Goadsby with a 62 nett.
This Saturday’s tournament is an individual Stableford. The course is in great condition and should provide some great opportunities for low scoring.
The fund raising day for the Westpac Helicopter is being played this Sunday.
Play begins with an 11am shotgun start.
All players should be at the Club by 10:30 and play their entry fee as soon as they arrive.
The day is being supported by local businesses and golfers, and not one vacancy remains on the time sheet. A true testament to how Singleton locals support this great cause.
Contact Les at the Pro Shop to check your entry.
The entries continue to roll in for the Annual Holden Scramble being played on Sunday 24 August. Two separate Scrambles will be played on the same day.
The winning groups from both the 7:45am and 12:30pm tee times will qualify for the regional final in October. All entries can be made through the touch screen from the July 26.
