“Our capital works program is more than double what it was in 2006/07 at $35.14 million and includes $8.6 million on the town centre revitalisation, $7.17 million on road construction and upgrades, $6 million on the Singleton Regional Livestock Market and $3.5 million in residential land development,” she says.
“This is one of our most ambitious capital works programs yet and will present great opportunities for local business and industry. As required by local government regulation, projects over $150,000 are put out to open tender and while local businesses are encouraged to tender, Council has no policy for giving preference to local suppliers.”
And Mrs Hyam is inviting local businesses to attend a lunch at the Singleton Regional Livestock Market to discuss the opportunities and benefits that will arise from these projects.
A light lunch and refreshments will be served on Friday, August 1 from 12.30pm to 3pm.
The lunch is a joint initiative of Singleton Council, Singleton Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Hunter Founders Forum, providing manufacturing and engineering businesses with valuable networking opportunities and the chance to hear from important industry speakers about current and future opportunities.
Attendees are encouraged to bring along colleagues and business contacts to this free networking event.
To register your attendance or for more information regarding the Major Projects Lunch or the support of business in Singleton, please contact the Singleton Visitor Information and Enterprise Centre on 02 6571 5888 or email events@singleton.nsw.gov.au
Ms Hyam said the Council is committed to the development and support of local business and industry in Singleton.
