They hope to have the pleasure of your company at their first big fundraising event. Save the date for Friday October 10 with the evening starting at 6:00pm for pre dinner drinks with the three course dinner starting at 7:00pm. There will be a wonderful raffle and lots of tales of Ken Rosewall’s life. Get a table of 10 or just a couple. Tickets are $100 per person and they will sell fast. Sports Power Monday Night Competition
Another very strong night of tennis. In Division 1 no one got their three sets with Rene Boyton and Charl Botes getting 16 along with Andrew MacPherson and Victor Roures. In Division 2 four sets went to tiebreak with Dean Mathews and Roger Lee getting 20 points but only won two sets closely followed by Richard Fox and Joel Dowse who won their three sets for 19. In Division 3 no one got their three sets but Julie Girdler and Jasper Muir came out on top with 16 games closely followed by Will Debelak and Heidi Stanford getting 15 games. Craig Miles will be away for first three rounds so anyone unavailable for play please contact Mark on 0419 996 553.
Tuesday Ladies
This week saw regulars Robyn Schmierer, Kay Williams, Wendy Robertson, Leanne Smith, John Cox, Amanda Druery and Deidre Girdler make it for a lovely hit of tennis. The ladies would love anyone that is interested in joining in on their social morning tennis to come down and have a go. Everyone is welcome. Cost is only $7 for a member. Play starts around 9am and finishes around 11, home cooked morning tea is always provided. If you would like to join the Ladies please call Kate or Kerryn on 6572 3889.
Sports Power Thursday Night Competition
Last week Wawrinka 23 drew with Print Gallery 23 and Nadal 20 went down to Federer 25 and Wasted Nights 23 shared the points with Djokovic 23. If you are interested in filling in please contact Brian Kirkland on 0421 845 570.
Hunter Tennis Academy News
Each week Gary is able to walk around say hello to all the parents that bring their children to lessons. He finds it very rewarding watching the kids from where they started to how well they can hit the ball now, even though he is sure a few try and hit him as he walks around the courts. He thanks all the wonderful kids for making their job one that they love and that they can watch you grow. A big thank you too to all of the parents who are a pleasure to have around and easy to chat with and without you they know your children wouldn’t be down here enjoying the fantastic programs on offer.
They’re still have a few spots available in group lessons on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for the 4pm session, this runs for 45min with lots of fun games to assist in the basics of tennis, for ages 3-7. Our 4:45pm group lessons has some spots available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for 1hr finishing at 5:45pm, ages are 8-13 and cater for the beginners as well as the next step up, learning more intermediate skills and basic match play, preparing the children so they are able join in our Friday Night Junior Competition. Friday Afternoon Junior Competition
The club managed to scrape in the Friday Night Junior Competition just before the rain. The results from last week were:
Division 1- Rene Boyton 17 games, Ben Wylie 13 games, Mitchell Ryan 16 games, Patrick Bagley 4 games, Anthony Girdler (filling in for Liam Hare) 9 games, Jasper Muir 9 games, George Alexander 16 games and Cameron Phillips 18 games.
Division 2- Tomic (Jacinta Maher, Tullara Brown, Fiona Spellman) vs Murray (James Girdler, Serenah Messenger, Dee-Anna Timbrell) result draw 3 sets all Roddick (Ethan VanZyl, Rohit Kulkarni, Mitchell Egan) vs Azarenka (Andrew Woods, Braedon Messenger, Renee Atfield) result Roddick won 5 sets to 1.
Divison 3- Slazenger (Luke Meyn, fill-in, Toby Jackson) vs Head (Claire Phillips, Marcus Farrands, Kaitlyn Van Zyl ) result was a draw 3 sets all. Yonex (Tanya Swinton, Jack Land, Elizabeth Nichols) vs Wilson (Hannah Lukeman, Luke Swinton, Sam Forrest) result was a draw 3 sets all. Babolat (Thalia Gregory, Luka Neyland, Ellie Farrands) vs Prince (Jeremy Ferricks, Harmony Scott, Dylan Weedon) result Babolat won 6 sets to 0. Thank you to everyone for another successful night.
Saturday Social
Unfortunately the rain came 10 minutes after they started so they were washed out. Social tennis is played every Saturday from 1pm and all players and visitors are welcome.
