Federal member for Hunter Joel Fitzgibbon, state member for the Upper Hunter, George Souris and the Singleton mayor, John Martin were all on hand to congratulate the candidates.
This is a rare occurrence says mayor John Martin and quite a significant one.
Eleven new citizens were welcomed to what Mr Fitzgibbon described as "the best country in the world''.
Among them were all four members of the Gunter family who moved from South Africa to Australia nine years ago.
“Australia is our home now,” family matriarch, Sara-Lee said.
She said they value the stability of the country.
