The single biggest age group in our town is aged between 10-19 years. This group makes up 15.5 per cent of our population according to the 2011 ABS Census. If you then add the 0-9 age group it means more than 30 per cent of our population is aged under 20.

What does this mean Singleton well, according to Singleton Council it shows the town is a great place to raise families.
This may well be true but in planning terms we have to ensure we have the facilities to meet their needs.
Education, sporting and recreation needs must be met and of course post secondary training and employment opportunities.
It seems simple but it takes a lot of planning to get the mix right and it will need some innovative thinking especially when it comes to employment opportunities to ensure Singleton is the great place it has been to raise families.
Singleton’s population is expected to reach 31,800 by 2036 up from the current 22,694.
So we have to think about our future and plan where our community should be heading to give our young people a bright future.
