Staged at the Singleton Youth Venue on Monday and Tuesday, 'Play, Sing, Drum, Dance' is a two-day camp where selected students from local schools take part in a number of workshops.
The camp ends with a concert showcasing what the students have learned.
Hip- hop is the dance style of choice introduced to this year's enthusiastic students.
Dance teacher, Brooke Lidbury says I taught the children basic moves like how to bounce, the jack and the rock and "they were really into it".
"The boys were quite enthusiastic and a few of them were keen to do the worm," she laughed.
"So I choreographed it into their final performance."
Miss Lidbury explained the group selected to perform the hip-hop act came up with a name for their crew.
"A crew is what we call a group of hip-hop dancers and they came up with the name 'Swagalicious Youngsters'," she laughed.
The Song Room's regional program coordinator, Capree Gaul said they are planning a much bigger event in October at the Singleton Civic Centre.
"We are in the process of planning the True Colours festival. It will involve 900 students from 14 different schools," she said.
"It will be a day-long event, a mix of drama, dance and music."
In the meantime The Song Room will continue to bring performing arts subjects to schools in the region with the help of major sponsors, Coal and Allied, she said.
