Mr Souris says Singleton Council is calling for tenders for construction of the extension to the Singleton Gym and Swim carpark as part of the Singleton Gym & Swim Extension and Upgrade project.
“The extension will provide for an additional 54 parking spaces and four new disability parking spaces for the facility on Civic Avenue,” he says.
“The new carpark will include landscaping and lighting and a new entry and exit point.
“It is anticipated that construction will be completed before the end of the year and the new carpark will be operational by Christmas.”
Construction work will have negligible impact on existing parking facilities, however, once complete will provide for new entry and exit arrangements from the existing car park.
Tenders open today and tender documentation is available at www.singleton.nsw.gov.au/tenders
The $5.91 million Gym & Swim Extension and Upgrade project is being funded thanks to a grant from the NSW Government’s Hunter Infrastructure and Investment Fund and a voluntary planning agreement with Ravensworth Mine.
Council’s general manager Lindy Hyam said it is the first time money from the fund has been used for a recreational project.
