Real estate agent Cain Beckett confirmed the transaction but was unable to reveal the buyer.
In 2005 the then owners, Hardie Taree Pty Limited lodged a development application (DA805/2205) for a tourist facility, service station and advertising signs and it was approved by the Singleton Council in 2010.
A further application was lodged in 2006 to consolidate the three separate blocks that make up the land parcel and in 2012 another for external roadworks.
Jurd’s sold an adjacent property, a former service station site in February for $435 000.
It was described as an “extraordinary site, just over five acres in size and visible from the north and south-bound carriageway of the NEH in Belford which is at the start/end of the soon-to-be completed Hunter Expressway and the intersection of the major Wine Country tourist route of Hermitage Road.
Singleton Council says they are not aware of who has purchased the land but said the original development application will expire in 2015.
“This is the standard period of time they are viable for and if any development is going to occur it would need to be initiated very quickly before the application expires,” a council representative says.
