Raising money for the Children’s Cancer Institute Australia has become embedded in the culture of Singleton High School, said principal Tony Jarrett.

On one special day each year the student body comes together to host Tommy’s Day.
It is a day dedicated to raising money and remembering former student, Tom Kirkwood who lost his battle with cancer while attending Singleton High.
“I am very proud of the students,” Mr Jarrett said.
Tommy’s Day was held on Friday and so far $8000 has been counted.
The day kicked off with the talent quest and there were plenty of great prizes on offer.
Students packed the hall paying three dollars each to see a variety of entertaining acts. Dancer Will Holmes took out first prize which was a $250 travel voucher.
After that the students spilled out onto the oval to take part in a variety of fundraising activities.
A highlight of the afternoon was the head shave with two teachers losing their locks.
Mark Henderson and Megan Parish were brave enough to shave.
With Megan donating the money she raised to a current student, Jacob Moore who is undergoing his fifth round of chemotherapy to fight a secondary cancer.
