MORE than 50 competitors took aim at the Singleton Clay Target Club’s third two-day novelty field shoot of the year at the Warkworth complex at the weekend.

The weather was quite good with a warm day, with partial cloud and mist, which affected the light early in proceedings.
A larger crowd than usual of 59 shooters from all over the valley, Quirindi and Central Coast attended.
The program was 100 targets on both days with Sunday being the Don Thrift Memorial.
Saturday’s results:
AA grade - 1st Andrew Garvie 99/100, 2nd Frank Searles 89/100, 3rd Peter Boland 83/100
A grade - 1st Rod McCloy 91/100, 2nd Brett Cummings 86/100, 3rd Graeme Roser 83/100
B grade - 1st Don Harris 84/100, 2nd Darrell Austin 78/100, 3rd Mark Buitenhuis 77/100
C grade - 1st Carlo Monachino 74/100, 2nd Jay Barker 62/100, 3rd Darren Boonstoppel 56/100
Sunday dawned similar to Saturday with a cool breeze early, which dropped and a warm to hot day developed.
An excellent crowd of 66 shooters participated.

AA grade - 1st Andrew Garvie 93/100, 2nd Jake Lawlor 84/100, 3rd Frank Searles 96/115
A grade - 1st Brett Cummings 97/115, 2nd Robin Elton 96/115, 3rd Frank Morris 82/100
B grade - 1st Jack Roth 79/100, 2nd Jason Hancock 78/100, 3rd Carlo Monachino 76/100
C grade - 1st Robert Lawman 74/100, 2nd Jay Barker 69/100, 3rd Darren Boonstoppel 62/100
High Gun winners for the weekend were:

At the award ceremony, all winners were presented with great prizes and sashes while placegetters received prizes.
All commented that the layout was very competitive and it was a great shoot with good weather, good food and good company.
The usual big thank you goes to Anne, Robyn, Kimberley , Pam and Tracey in the kitchen, Denis and Julie in the office and to Col who was very ably helped by Terry Saville and Lionel Finlay, filling the traps and keeping the clays flying.
And finally, Jack Barker, Hugh Sneddon and his volunteers who spent a lot of time setting up the field – thank you.
The next shoot will be on Saturday and Sunday, October 11 and 12,
with the 100 Targets 5 Stand,
Sunday 50 Targets Single Barrel Championship and 50 Targets Point Score.
