When visiting the school last year she noticed the sum of each pupil’s wardrobe was the one outfit they were wearing.
This bought Mrs Blofield to tears and motivated her to start collecting second-hand clothing from the Singleton community for the kids.
She has the tightly-packed boxes ready to go but is just $350 short when it comes to covering the freight costs.
Mrs Blofield says thanks to the generosity of G&S Freight Logistics, it is going to cost $1850 to send the 198 kilograms of clothing.
“So far I have raised $1500 towards the fee of sending the clothing through donations, as well as selling plants, craft items and conducting raffles,” she told The Argus.
“The donations included $500 from Rotary and $100 each from Lions and Lioness but now I am at a loss when it comes to the remaining $350.”
Times are tough, there is not as much money out there and plenty of other charities that need money too, Mrs Blofield said.
She hopes to send the cartons before she undergoes surgery early in October.
“I would really like to know I have done it and that the children have the clothes before I go to hospital,” she said.
“It makes such a big difference to their lives; it is like Christmas for them when they receive just one or two garments.
“At the moment I am a little stressed about if I can make this happen.”
