With so much up for grabs it wasn’t surprising to see some very low scoring.
In A grade it was club captain Mark Newman making an early bid at winning his own trophy.
He fired a fine 39 points off his 6 handicap for a victory.
Last week’s winner Mick Williams moved into second place with another consistent performance; 37 points.
Oliver Smith blasted the B grade opposition away when he returned to the clubhouse with 43 points.
Not bad for a player that won C grade last week.
Smith’s long hitting is the talk of the club and he may have set some kind of record by playing in B grade for only one week.
His new handicap is 9.
Four points in arrears was Holden Scramble champion Craig Smith with a very steady 39 points.
The C grade players once again produced the best scores of the day.
Chris Duffie keeps winning each time he tees up.
This round was no exception as he shot a massive 44 points and, amazingly, is still in C grade.
Duffie has now lost 13 shots off his handicap in 10 starts.
Col Fogarty’s 42 points took out the runners up prize on a countback from visitor James Lucas.
There was a mixed bag of winners in the Secret 9.
Unsurprisingly, Ollie Smith grabbed the main slice of the spoils with his nine-hole score of 25 points.
The next three placegetters – Ian Brown, Tony Fay and Terry Partridge – were all on 23 points.
The shot of the day came from Singleton sage Michael Daley.
Perfect club selection combined with perfect swing execution from the ninth tee had Daley’s ball finish in the hole.
The jackpot prize from hole-in-one sponsor Sutty’s Electrical was very much appreciated.
Such is the difficulty of the ninth hole; the last ace on that hole was more than 12 months ago.
