Keen footballers in town have the opportunity to see the prestigious trophy at Singleton Square, as part of the Hunter Region Tour kicking off in the lead-up to the opening match of the 2015 tournament in Australia.
The tour of the AFC Asian Cup will visit Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Port Stephens before heading to Singleton, Cessnock, Maitland and Gosford.
A small, public function is scheduled on Thursday, October 9, in Singleton Square, where an official welcome will take place and the AFC Asian Cup will be on display from 3.30pm.
Everyone is welcome to attend and have a photo with the Cup as it makes its way through the Hunter Valley.
Singleton Council is running a competition for people to go in the draw to win a double pass to the VIP section of the function, where winners will enjoy finger food and drinks, and have the chance to rub shoulders with special guests.
The winners also receive a double pass to the Oman versus Kuwait game, which will take place at Newcastle Stadium on Saturday, January 17.

“January 2015 marks the first time Asia’s biggest football tournament has come to Australia,” he said.
“Anyone who loves their football should get down to Singleton Square on October 9 to be part of this exciting event.”
The AFC Asian Cup will begin in Australia on January 9.
Newcastle is hosting four matches of the 2015 AFC tournament from January 12 to January 30, including a semi-final and the 3rd/4th play-off at Hunter Stadium.
