Gate takings were up $6000 on the 2013 show, which was very pleasing given the fact it was held in the middle of the school holidays.
Perfect spring weather over the two days no doubt helped to attract the crowds.
Northern Agricultural Association (NAA) president Max Wake was extremely pleased with the community’s support, saying crowd numbers were up on 2013.
“The feedback we have received has been really positive,” he said.
“Sideshow alley, which this year was operated by the Showman’s Guild, proved popular with show-goers.
“But I think the highlight was the ring program which included a variety of entertainment from the rodeo and singer Travis Collins on Friday night to the Wife Carrying Championships and last of all the fireworks on Saturday evening.”
So big were the entries in the campdraft that Mr Wake said the NAA would be looking at ways to overcome the need to restrict entries in future shows.
Entries were also slightly higher in the beef cattle ring, which this year offered junior competitors the chance to win champion groomsman and herdsman awards.
Mr Wake said entries in all other sections of the show were on a par with previous years.
Although, he said, the NAA were pleased to have seven entrants in the Showgirl competition.
