And, now, the students are reaping the benefits, says King Street’s Cindy Judge.
“After three years of gradually increasing the technology available to our students, it is really exciting to see everything coming together,” she said.
“To the point where each student in a classroom can have a laptop and follow along with everything the teacher is doing on the smartboard.
“The installation of wireless access points across the school has been a
crucial component of the plan and it was surprising how expensive it was.”
Mrs Judge says covering the cost of the project has been a joint effort from all sections of the local community.
“We received funding from Glencore, our P&C and some money came from the school budget,” she told The Argus.
“Even though some of the initial
funding was only allocated for a three-year period, we intend on keeping the program going and purchasing more portable devices.
“They are helping our older pupils learn to research on the internet and this will make the transition to high school easier.
“It is also great for our younger
students who are such visual and hands-on-learners.”
