Members of the local Rapid Relief Team (RRT) took care of more than 50 participants involved in the 1200kms for Kids charity bike ride.

The entourage, which set off from Sydney, dropped into the Rixs Creek Rest Area for lunch on Wednesday, before venturing onto Muswellbrook.

RRT Singleton team leader Bill Sealey said the not-for-profit organisation was happy to help out the riders on their journey to Brisbane.

“They’re raising money for the Children’s Hospital Foundation, Queensland, and the Humpty Dumpty Foundation, Sydney, to assist sick children,” he told The Argus.

“A lot of the cyclists are doing it ‘from their heart’ – because the cause really means something to them.

“We’re not only cooking lunch for them in Singleton, we’re preparing breakfast in Muswellbrook too.

“We provide high-quality food, using local product.

“All up, we’ll organise more than 100 meals for the 50-strong contingent, which includes 30 riders, their support crew and emergency services.”

Mr Sealey said RRT Singleton provided benevolent relief to people in need.

“Our team consists of volunteers of all ages, who are dedicated to serving the community,” he said.

“There are about 20 of us from Singleton here today.

“We’re also offering our services to other charities.”
