The school’s creative and performing arts students earned massive praise for their singing and acting abilities at the opening two shows at the end of October.
Audience member Margaret Furness said from the cast, orchestra, props, lighting, sound and front of house “everybody was just amazing”.
“What a great night to experience the talents of this high school’s students and staff; it’s hard to believe the lead characters are students in Year 9,” she said.
This is the first time in 10 years that the school paid for the royalties to take on an established musical.
The story is based around a florist shop where a monster flesh-eating plant Audrey II is growing.
Accompanying that horror is a love triangle between Seymore, his co-worker Audrey and a sadistic dentist. Many of the cast fall victim to Audrey II.
“Comedy is a big part of the show and the students really capture the quirky feel of the play,” director Jane Johns said.
Purchase tickets ($10 adults $5 students) from the Singleton High School front office or on the door.
