“Playing sport is great for confidence and self-esteem in kids and that’s what we do with Dream Cricket,” Rotary member Greg Bevan said.
Dream Cricket is a creation of Rotary, the Bradman and Movement Disorder Foundations that gives children with disability the opportunity to be involved in sporting activities.
The students use specially-modified cricket equipment during the clinic with Rotary Club of Singleton on Hunter members and, at its conclusion, keep the gear at the school for further use whenever their teachers’ desire.
A feature of the Singleton Public program is involving senior pupils from the school to help run the clinic.
This was the first year Dream Cricket has been introduced to the high school.
Some of the funding to make this happen came from Rotary’s 2013 Art Prize community grant money.
