The award is given to schools that complete a certain amount of minutes of physical exercise every year.
Classes register and clock how much time the students spent active during 2014, which is tallied up after the program finishes.
To give the pupils extra incentive, five teachers signed up.
“We ran 60-minute fitness Fridays and also had stand-alone sessions during the week to make sure the kids were getting regular physical,” sports coordinator Angela Stretton said.
“It started off with the beep test before we changed the sessions every week to keep it interesting.
“It’s more than just running around though with some of the sessions also involving a talk about eating and living healthy.”
The school received 44 gold certificates and more than 120 bronze certificates for individuals, making them eligible for the overall gold award.
Keen participants in the program were the school’s kindergarten students, who picked up the majority of the gold awards.
The school hosted a teachers versus students’ netball game to celebrate the efforts of both children and teachers to stay fit and healthy.
